Crave the Hike

Hey Ladies,

I am amazed at the preparation for hiking 4 days on the Appalacian Trail. I definately need new hiking boots. I was shopping yesterday at Outdoor Adventure. I love all the camp gear. This is becoming a way of life. I find I am craving to go hiking. Last week I checked out Roosevelt Island. It was easy and was more of a stroll. This weekend I am in search of a trail here in Arlington that has a waterfall. I believe it's around Military Road.
Cheerio!

Walking Slowly but Surely

After hanging out in Mexico for some must needed rest and relaxation, four forty something friends decided to challenge themselves to a walk through Maryland. We must start with Andrea, as it was her idea afterall. Andrea is a holistic nutritionist with a loyal heart, an inuitive nature and a serious case of tenacity. Next we have Elana. It has always been her life long dream to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. However, she well settle for the Maryland portion. Elana is a bar manager, devoted wife and mother with a playful spirit and keen sense of adventure. Our third hiker is Kathleen. Kathleen is an acupuncturist, writer, and mother with philosophical mind and grounded spirit. Finally, there is Ronda. She is a chiropractor who is kindhearted and always open minded about experiencing different people and places.

Together these four women will challenge themselves physically and mentally to do the forty one mile hike through the Maryland portion of the Appalachian Trail. Although it is really only about 10 miles a day, when you add a thirty something pound backpack to the mix, it may not be as easy as it sounds. All four will contribute to this blog, sharing both challenges and successes in preparing for and executing this feat.
